Bohemian Chandelier: A Simple Guide to Choosing Your Perfect Lighting

A ceiling chandelier is a hanging light fixed to the ceiling. Unlike a basic ceiling light that is likely to have just one point for brightness, a chandelier usually has more than one light. Chandeliers are not merely a source of light; they act like a room’s jewelleries. When you enter a space with a chandelier above you, you will feel that the space is livelier than expected. Ceiling chandeliers can work in many rooms: over a dining table, in a living room, in your bedroom, or in a hallway where your visitors first step into your home. No matter where it is installed, chandeliers give you a sense of focus by drawing your eyes upward and adding a soft touch of care.

Ceiling chandeliers come in many different looks, from simple shapes with clean lines to more detailed ones with curved arms, hanging drops or small glass pieces. Even a modest chandelier can feel special if it suits the room. With so many options out there, finding your match is an adventure. The key is harmony – look at your room’s existing furniture and colours, to which your chandelier should act as solely an accessory, without making visitors feel overwhelmed. Also, think about how people move through the room with the chandelier to ensure no one will bump into it.

If your chandelier hangs over a table, we recommend mounting the chandelier’s bottom about 30 to 36 inches (that is, 76 to 91 centimetres) above the tabletop for 8‑foot ceilings – low enough to create intimacy, but high enough to keep your sight clear. Cleaning also matters: dust every 1 to 3 months with a dry microfiber or electrostatic duster from the top of your chandelier to the bottom, and conduct more intensive cleaning, such as careful bulb wiping and basic condition checks, every 6 to 12 months to preserve brightness.
